Once again, C3A makes Art A Happening, this time at the Coatesville Film Festival of September 16th, 17th, and 18th, 2005. Fifty films from professionals and students across the country were screened to a happy audience of fans and filmmakers from the tri-state region including many visiting the area for the first time. Films ranged from a 2-minute animation to an 85- minute feature length comedy. A first for the Coatesville area , there was something for everyone at this visual buffet.

We are especially pleased with the many middle school, high school and college students who had a chance to see their work respectfully presented to a live audience. Filmmakers had a chance to attend the Festival Preview Party with a fantastic buffet and local specialty beverages. They could exchange ideas with each other, other film buffs, and local supporters of the arts scene who helped make the festival possible. Festival goers were also treated to the sounds of local musicians on Main Street, presenting grooves ranging from gospel to folk to rock.

Some Information about the City of Coatesville:
The historic city of Coatesville is located on the west branch of the Brandywine River in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Coatesville has a storied history, both as a one-time cultural center full of theaters and opera houses, and as, for many years, the economic engine of Chester County that produced and exported steel to the world. Since the early 1800s, Lukens Steel Co. (now ISG, Inc.) products have been found in Baldwin locomotives, American battleships, the World Trade Center and much more.

Now the city with a Backbone of Steel is on its way to an exciting commercial and cultural renaissance. Millions of dollars of development is slated for the area over the next few years. And there is a saying among the builders: Follow the artists! In this global economy, people can choose to live and visit anywhere, and the vibrancy of the local arts “infrastructure” is a determining factor. So any city worth its steel and its salt deserves a great film festival.

Coatesville Area Arts Alliance, Inc. (aka C3A) stages unique public arts events for fun and education, to therefore encourage visitors to the Coatesville area, and advance the visibility and opportunities for artists. The Coatesville Area Arts Alliance is helping to create a new cultural renaissance for the City of Coatesville -- WE MAKE ART A HAPPENING!
